Holiday Cheer surrounds Hayward community

On Thursday, Dec. 6 the annual Christmas tree lighting was held in Hayward’s city Hall with entertainment for the family. Band students from Hayward High school performed all night long throughout parts of B street that were closed down for the event. The event carried a variety of entertainment such as a train ride, games for kids as well as food stand. There was also a skating rink for little kids to enjoy their holiday experience.

The tree lighting ceremony took place at 7:45 pm. Inside city hall; music filled the building as a mariachi band sang various Christmas melodies. In order to began the lighting of the tree, the musical appearances of a choir lit up the room as they also sang Christmas melodies.

“The event is amazing because it brings in the families. We give you the joy of what Christmas is, nothing about ‘happy holidays’, no, it’s merry Christmas [because] I don’t like [saying] ‘happy holidays’.” Councilmember and Chabot instructor, Francisco Zermeno said. “That’s why we bring you music [like] choir, mariachi, and a lot of activities for the kids so that people can know the center of Hayward. We have Santa Clause, we have the tree. It’s a family event so that people will feel conferrable.”

Not only is this event just about spreading holiday cheer but to others such as High school student Daniel Morales it means the time to spread the word of God.

“Were just letting people know that Jesus Christ loves us and this time of the season some people are down but where letting them know that the joy of the lord is coming.”

The event had  many attendants who were enjoying the time in spending with family and friends this joyous moment to share with the community.

“We like coming here because it’s a big family and friends event and it brings the spirit of Christmas.” said community member Alyssa Cody.

Don’t miss the chance to enjoy these beautiful moments and see other holiday events that are coming up this December for you and your family to enjoy.

Another 4 years of Obama

Finally, most Americans have rested in peace yesterday after the celebration of Obama’s new presidency. We will still have Obama for a while. The campaigning and debates all paid off for the Obama administration and now its time to work on all the propositions that Obama himself set as goals for the next term.

Now all we have to do is wait and see what new and upcoming changes the president will have for us during this term. I am very happy Obama won, and I like many of you expect to see prosperity and new change coming our way very soon.

Through out this entire election, there has been many controversies over lies, fact checking and the the ways in which Obama, Romney and their keynote speakers delivered their speeches at the debate convention. The video below shows Obama’s victory speech and the excitement that was felt as the second term president delivered his second and final speech. The media has already started looking for new candidates for the 2016 election, but why rush, we should enjoy the moment for now. We should just live the moment.

Crazed Fans

The Picture shown on the above is a picture of  hard-core fans that have gone to see their favorite Mexican soccer team, Chivas. The team has fans from all over the world and obviously I am one of those fans.

The photograph clearly shows the emotions that these fans demonstrate as their team is either making a good play, committing bad play or they are simply supporting their team.

Many of us, no matter what team or sport we root for show the same ambition as the fans in the picture. We show our pride by wearing representative colors and jersey’s that identifies the team. We also wear other accessories that makes our team stand out in our own bodies.

Yes, some fans might get overly excited or wild while watching their team, but that shows the greater passion that one has for the team. Though the outcome of ones excitement may not be a good one at times, since many fans end up fighting with the other teams fans, but luckily not every sports match ends up brutal.

There are people who enjoy the love for the game and are willing to support their team no matter what the outcome of the game may be. Just like Giant’s, or Detroit fans never lost faith in their team in the world series, Chiva  (and other team) fans will not loose faith in their team no matter how good or poorly they play.

The picture overall is a good representation of what it means to be a true sports fan, and as more people join the excitement for the game, the more excitement is brought upon everyone who enjoys a well played soccer game.
